FUN: COMBINE ART AND ENGLISH

If you want to encourage your child's interest in learning English, make it fun! This video shows how easy it is to draw Peppa Pig, this time on a bicycle.  Once your child has mastered drawing Peppa, there are so many English-learning possibilities.  Draw Peppa in the supermarket, in the garden, at school, with her friends...the options are endless.  And then, describe your pictures with each other.

Go on, have a bit of artistic fun, get sketching and talking English!

LEARNING TO READ ENGLISH USING PHONICS

Because English is not a phonetic language, it is not written in the same way that it sounds, it can be difficult for learners to start writing.  In UK schools, and now in schools all over the world, young children are being taught literacy through phonics.  There are several steps to follow when using synthetic phonics to learn how to read and write English:
1.  Recognition of all of the 26 sounds of the alphabet, followed by the additional sounds which make up all 42 sounds of the English language.
2. Learning and practice of letter formation
3. Blending these sounds together to make short words.
4. Being able to identify the different sounds which make up a word.
5. Learning by heart the non-decodeable words in the English language, that is those which cannot be spelt out using phonics.

Peppa Pig have a couple of products which help children on their way with Phonics and short word learning.

NUMBERS

Numbers and counting are very important!  Peppa and George use numbers in their game of hide and seek.  They have to find a good place to hide before the other one finishes counting.  Mummy Pig helps George to count.

"One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten!!!  Ready or not, here I come."
